Living Water Missional Church – Historical Overview
In 2021, on the occasion of West Chester Community Evangelical Church (WCCEC)’s 20th anniversary of church planting, God granted a new vision for establishing a branch church. The pastoral team began seeking a God-centered ministry field and partners in the Valley Forge area. On July 7 of the same year, the pastoral team met for the first time with the pastors of Calvary Baptist Church (CBC), discerning together the gospel needs of the Chinese community in Lansdale.
On November 27, 2021, WCCEC and CBC co-hosted the “Come with Thanksgiving” celebration in Lansdale, sharing the vision of a new branch with the local Chinese community. Following this, on January 14, 2022, WCCEC’s “Hope Group 1” launched a Friday evening Bible study at CBC.
On September 11, 2022, the WCCEC-Lansdale branch was officially established. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the first Sunday worship service was held. Pastor Simon Chen exhorted the congregation, affirming that many of God’s people reside in the Lansdale area, and conveyed the mission of the branch church: Gospel Movement – Discipleship – Leadership Development.
On January 7, 2024, the church relocated to Dock Mennonite Academy (Grades 9–12 Campus). Under the supervision of the mother church’s pastoral team, Brother Chaohui Cai, chair of the Church Planting Committee, led the branch to transition into a church plant and complete government registration. Together with the core planting team and the congregation, the church was named Living Water Missional Church (LWMC), establishing a renewed vision and mission.
On November 10, 2024, LWMC held its first members’ meeting, adopting the church bylaws, electing deacons, and calling Minister Songwei to serve as pastor. On December 8 of the same year, Minister Songwei was ordained as pastor by the Worldwide Chinese Evangelical Church Association.
On January 1, 2025, Living Water Missional Church (LWMC) became financially independent in its operations.
